SEK 694 a month is the power bill for a Lund flat on a 16 A main fuse using 2,000 kWh a year, when retail energy costs the Statistics Sweden (SCB) variable-contract average for SE4 in August 2026, 113.0 öre/kWh before VAT. Kraftringen Nät AB owns the Lund grid area according to Svenska kraftnät’s Nätområden.se, and the area is in SE4. In the Energy Markets Inspectorate’s data Kraftringen is among the dearest grids for flats: SEK 4,602 a year with VAT, rank 130 of 136, with only 6 grids costing more. The subscription (abonnemang, the fixed grid charge) drives this: 90.9 % of the grid cost is fixed, while the transfer fee is just 16.7 öre/kWh before VAT. Between 2025 and 2026 the flat’s grid cost rose 14.7 %. With energy tax of 36.0 öre/kWh and VAT, the average comes to 416.3 öre/kWh all in. Enter today’s spot price to see what your next unit costs.

In Lund the average price falls the more you use
| Use per year | Bill per month | Average price all in |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 kWh | SEK 521 | 625.5 öre/kWh |
| 2,000 kWh | SEK 694 | 416.3 öre/kWh |
| 3,500 kWh | SEK 953 | 326.7 öre/kWh |
| 5,000 kWh | SEK 1,212 | 290.8 öre/kWh |
The pattern is sharper in Lund than in most cities because nearly all of the grid cost is fixed. A student in a small flat with low usage pays a very high price per kilowatt-hour, while a household using more spreads the subscription over more units. The variable part per kilowatt-hour, 207.2 öre/kWh with VAT, is on the other hand lower than in Malmö.
Kraftringen’s four standard cases
| Standard case | Fixed per year | Variable price 1 | Variable price 2 | Rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flat 16 A | SEK 4,184 | 16.7 öre/kWh | single price | 130 of 136 |
| House 16 A | SEK 8,264 | 16.7 öre/kWh | single price | 111 of 116 |
| House 20 A | SEK 13,004 | 16.7 öre/kWh | 16.7 öre/kWh | 110 of 115 |
| House 25 A | SEK 16,184 | 16.7 öre/kWh | 16.7 öre/kWh | 112 of 117 |
For the 20 and 25 A houses, the regulator’s table has two fields for the variable price. Kraftringen enters the same amount in both, so in practice a single price per kWh applies. The houses sit as far down the ranking as the flat does.
Lund against its SE4 neighbours
Retail energy costs the same across SE4, so it is the grid that separates Lund from Malmö, where E.ON charges per kWh rather than through the subscription. How a grid fee (nätavgift) is built is explained under the grid fee, and every grid appears in the grid fee comparison. For a heavy appliance such as the tumble dryer, it is the spot price that matters most in Lund.
