Compare grid fees: where your grid ranks among all areas
You cannot choose your grid company, but you can see whether it is expensive. The regulator collects every price.

The grid fee (nätavgift) for an electrically heated 20 A house using 20,000 kWh a year ranges from SEK 7,289 to SEK 21,517 with VAT, depending on where in Sweden the house stands. That is the Energy Markets Inspectorate’s (Ei) compilation of grid companies’ charges on 1 January 2026, in which 115 grid areas have a price for that case. The median is SEK 11,670. For a flat, 136 grid areas have a price. The differences come from the grid company, not the bidding zone: two neighbouring towns can have very different fees. Pick your grid company in the tool, choose a standard case and enter your consumption to see the yearly cost, the price per kWh, your rank and how much the fee changed since 2025. Energy tax is left out, since it is the same on every grid except in the northern municipalities with a deduction.

Ei’s compilation of grid companies’ household charges on 1 January 2026, VAT added to its ex-VAT prices. Power charges count only where they are in Ei’s standard case. The grid company may change prices during the year. Method and sources
The spread for four standard cases
| Standard case | Grid areas | Cheapest | Median | Dearest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flat 16 A, 2,000 kWh | 136 | SEK 1,621 | SEK 2,698 | SEK 6,371 |
| House 16 A, 5,000 kWh | 116 | SEK 3,209 | SEK 5,891 | SEK 13,026 |
| House 20 A, 20,000 kWh | 115 | SEK 7,289 | SEK 11,670 | SEK 21,517 |
| House 25 A, 20,000 kWh | 117 | SEK 8,149 | SEK 13,479 | SEK 26,274 |
The dearest grid costs roughly three times the cheapest, or more, in all four cases. LKAB Nät AB has the lowest fee for an electrically heated 20 A house and Blåsjön Nät AB the highest. Vattenfall Eldistribution’s local grid, one of the largest, ranks 108 of 115 at SEK 17,029 a year.
How to read the ranking
Every year the regulator collects every grid company’s charges for the same standard customers so they can be compared. The total is the fixed fee plus authority charges plus the variable fee times the case’s consumption. We add VAT and replace the authority charges with the 2026 amount, because some companies reported the old figure.
A grid that is cheap for flats can be dear for houses, and the reverse, because companies spread their costs differently across fuse sizes. Switch the standard case in the tool to see it.
What the comparison does not show
Standard cases do not describe every tariff. A power charge (effektavgift), where you pay for your highest load in the month, is included only if it is in the case; see the guide to power charges. Grid companies may also change prices during the year. How the fee is built is explained in the grid fee explained, and the three largest grid companies have their own pages: Ellevio, Vattenfall Eldistribution and E.ON Energidistribution.
