About Elpriskollen

Elpriskollen is published by Radif Partners, an independent publisher of calculators. The site exists for one question the big price sites leave unanswered: what does a kilowatt-hour cost me once tax, VAT and my own grid are included? Look up today’s electricity price in Sweden and you get an exchange price before VAT, often with lowest and highest values the wrong way round and a prompt to switch contract. We work out the all-in price instead and show each part separately.

What we do better than the first Google result

The most visited price site shows the spot price “without VAT and other taxes” and leaves the rest to the reader. Elpriskollen turns the spot price into what you pay, with energy tax of 36 öre before VAT in 2026, VAT and the transfer fee of your own grid area among the 136 listed by the Energy Markets Inspectorate. It works out what a wash or a car charge costs when you want to run it, and uses Statistics Sweden data to show what variable and fixed contracts have actually cost in each bidding zone.

Why we do not show the spot price

Day-ahead prices belong to the power exchange and may not be republished without a licence; ENTSO-E’s free re-use terms do not cover them. We respect that. You see the price free from your retailer and type it in here, or paste the day’s quarter-hour prices.

Funding and independence

The site sells no contracts, takes no commission from retailers and passes on no contact details. If ads are added, there will be at most three per page, never above the calculator and never from an energy company that could sway the figures. No retailer or grid owner can pay to be mentioned.

How we work

Every tax rate, fee and threshold sits in a parameter file with source and date. The sources are the Energy Tax Act, the Swedish Tax Agency, the Energy Markets Inspectorate, Statistics Sweden, Svenska kraftnät, the Swedish Energy Agency and Energimarknadsbyrån. Calculations are tested automatically at every update. Read the method and the editorial policy.
