192.9 öre/kWh including VAT is what a Helsingborg house on a 16 A main fuse using 5,000 kWh a year pays when retail energy costs the Statistics Sweden (SCB) variable-contract average for houses without electric heating in SE4 in August 2026, 101.1 öre/kWh before VAT. The Helsingborg grid area belongs to Öresundskraft AB according to Nätområden.se; the Energy Markets Inspectorate lists the grid company as Öresundskraft Elnät AB. Unlike most grids, it became cheaper for 2026: the house case costs SEK 6,278 a year with VAT against SEK 6,453 the year before, even though state authority charges went up. The transfer fee (per-kWh grid charge) fell from 18.3 öre/kWh to 17.2 öre/kWh before VAT. Still, most of the grid fee is fixed, 82.9 % for the house. With energy tax of 36.0 öre/kWh, the monthly bill is roughly SEK 1,237.

Energy tax 36 öre/kWh excl. VAT (2026), 25% VAT on everything. The grid price is Ei’s figure for Öresundskraft Elnät AB on 1 January 2026, standard case V16; any power (kW) charge is not included. The retailer’s monthly fee is not included. Method and sources
Öresundskraft’s grid cost before and after the cut
| Standard case | 2025 | 2026 | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat 16 A, 2,000 kWh | SEK 2,943 | SEK 2,888 | -SEK 55 |
| House 16 A, 5,000 kWh | SEK 6,453 | SEK 6,278 | -SEK 175 |
| House 20 A, 20,000 kWh | SEK 13,341 | SEK 12,870 | -SEK 471 |
| House 25 A, 20,000 kWh | SEK 15,261 | SEK 14,735 | -SEK 526 |
All four standard cases got cheaper, most in kronor for the larger houses on 20 and 25 A fuses. The cut stands out against the rest of the country, where the median for the 16 A house sits at SEK 5,891 after a rise. Öresundskraft’s rank, 72 of 116, is nonetheless still on the dearer half, because the subscription starts out high.
Retail energy in SE4: variable against default
If you move to Helsingborg and do not pick a retailer, you are put on a default contract (anvisat avtal). According to SCB it cost 114.2 öre/kWh for houses without electric heating in SE4 in August 2026, against 101.1 öre/kWh on a variable contract, both before VAT. Over 5,000 kWh a year that gap is worth SEK 819 with VAT. The choice is covered under fixed or variable price.
When the tariff is mostly fixed
With a low transfer fee, your usage mainly moves the retail part of the bill. Appliances running around the clock, such as the freezer, cost about the same in retail energy per kilowatt-hour in Helsingborg as in Malmö but less in grid fee. The neighbouring city has the opposite model, see electricity in Malmö, and more grids appear in the grid fee comparison.
